TRI Hospitality Consulting, in association with BDRC, is publishing a definitive report into the UK's Budget Hotels — a dynamic and fast evolving hotel market.
The report reveals that for the first time in its history, total rooms revenue of the UK budget hotel market has broken the £1b barrier.
TRI Hospitality Consulting’s monthly HotStats data of the sector’s occupancy, rate and revpar performance shows that total rooms revenue climbed to £1.062 billion in 2006, up by 12.9% from 2005.
This means that the average budget hotel room now generates £12,947 in revenue per year. Coupled with the average size of individual budget hotels steadily increasing to a current figure close to 70 rooms per property, the average room revenue from a typical unit is now more than £900,000 per year.
The UK Budget Hotel sector has enjoyed extraordinary growth over the last ten years. It is now at a pivotal phase of development. Investors, developers and operators need answers to key questions. Can budget supply continue to grow at the same rate in the coming years? Our report will tackle this vital question after reaching conclusions on four topics: Definition, Growth, Performance and Consumer Response.
