Some people predicted that the election would be the first ever ‘online election’. However the televised Prime Ministerial debates & consequent rise in the Liberal Democrat support on the back of the strong TV performance by Nick Clegg has highlighted the importance of ‘old’ media. Raymond Snoddy writing for Mediatel prior to the televised debate got both the importance of TV in the election and the rise of Clegg absolutely correct. Read it here.
The controversial Digital Economy Bill, passed in the run up to the General Election, could potentially affect a wide range of issues concerning both the internet, and the distribution of media in general. It will be fascinating to see if the bill manages to stem the seemingly inexorable rise in online piracy that has already had a very substantial impact on the music industry and is increasingly becoming an issue for all types of online media content.
Video gaming has been a huge industry for some time and is no surprise that gaming has attracted the attention of advertisers.
